Pierre et GILLES

Pierre et Gilles are a French artist duo, Pierre Commoy (b. 1950) and Gilles Blanchard (b. 1953), who have been collaborating since 1976. They combine photography and painting to create highly stylized, hand-painted portraits that blend pop culture, religious iconography, and homoerotic themes. Their work features elaborate, custom-built sets and has portrayed celebrities like Madonna, Iggy Pop, and Catherine Deneuve. Recognized for their unique aesthetic, Pierre et Gilles have exhibited internationally and are considered icons of queer pop art.
