Bob MIZER
Bob Mizer (1922–1992) was an American photographer and filmmaker who pioneered homoerotic male imagery through his Los Angeles-based studio, the Athletic Model Guild (AMG), founded in 1945. In 1951, he launched Physique Pictorial, the first U.S. magazine to openly feature male physique photography, introducing artists like Tom of Finland to a broader audience. Mizer’s extensive archive, comprising over a million photographs and thousands of films, significantly influenced queer visual culture and challenged mid-20th-century norms of masculinity.
